Why We Need More Raw Foods
Only live, fresh, and unrefined foods regenerate the body and prevent the depletion of its own life-giving supply of enzymes. A diet comprised primarily of cooked and processed foods will create sluggish, congested cells incapable of vibrant living.
All foods in their “raw” state have life and are life-giving. Generally the more “dense” the food substance is (processed and cooked), the lesser the energy and nutrients it actually has. Some foods, what we call today “superfoods”, such as pomegranate, acai, wheat grass, spirulina, sea vegetables, hemp seeds, algae, and goji berry have incredibly high amounts of energy and health benefits and actually work in harmony with your system to bring a higher level of healthier and more energetic living to you.
Diets high in animal protein and saturated oils interfere with the natural wisdom cells need and possess to direct the optimum functioning of our bodies’ regenerative abilities. Whereas a fresh, uncooked, plant-based diet allows for optimal cellular regeneration as nature intended. I am not saying to eat 100% raw foods but it is important to incorporate them into each meal and find a healthy balance between raw and cooked foods.
Simply put, cooked food (over 115 degrees), refined and processed foods, dairy, an excess of red meat, and chemicals (alcohol, caffeine, tobacco, preservatives, and pesticides) takes away from the natural energy of the body, which equates to energy loss. Raw and vibrant foods including uncooked fruits, vegetables, sea vegetables, green and red superfoods, raw nuts and seeds, dehydrated/raw sprouted grains and legumes are all enzyme-rich, and add to your body’s pool of energy, which equates to energy gain.
Always keep this in mind before eating that heavy, cooked, processed meal: It takes more energy from the body to digest cooked foods than any other internal process. Therefore if you are constantly loading up on animal fats and processed grains and sugar, you will feel constantly tired and the body will not be able to heal and cleanse itself like it needs to. On the other hand, a body being fed a diet rich in fresh produce, whole grains, lean proteins, natural vegetable fats and alkaline beverages will spend less time on digestion and more time on healing, detoxifying, cleansing and fat elimination.
Finally, the human body is about 70% water, so it makes perfect sense that our body desires at least half the amount (ideally 70%) of its daily food intake from raw foods, which are generally high in water content.
Raw Foods….
- Increase energy, vitality, and an overall sense of well being
- Cleanse the body of accumulated toxins and waste
- Contain the highest concentration of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients
- Help prevent disease through proper cellular regeneration
- Help to alkalize the body
- Decrease fat production thus minimizing unhealthy weight gain
