8-Spice Blend not to be without!

My mom gave me a delicious blend of spices that she combined in a spice spiceshaker.   This blend can transform your stuffing and everyone will be wondering what those amazing flavors are :) I am no fan of sausage but the aroma of fennel, pepper, garlic, etc. reminded me of the spices used in sausage.  We tried once adding it to our Cashew Veggie Burger batter and it was delicious – a fun weekend breakfast food!

I recommend going to your local health store that sells dried herbs in bulk and buy small amounts of each spice.  This blend cost me less than a few dollars and I have enough to make about 3 batches.  I simply keep the blend in one of my empty spice shakers.  Lately I have been adding it to almost everything – especially grains.  A couple of times I accidentally added it to my eggs, quinoa, rice, and even grilled tempeh and was pleasantly surprised.…so yum!!

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp Celtic Sea Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Paprika – smoked is my favorite
  • ½ tsp Garlic granules/powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion granules
  • ½ tsp fennel seed
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • ¼ tsp Crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/8 tsp thyme

Directions:

  1. Place all of the ingredients in a spice grinder or pulse chop a few times in a food processor.
  2. Store in a spice shaker.
