Why do our bodies need “whole” sea salt?
A healthy, active lifestyle demands a reasonable salt intake. In the uterus, an embryo grows more than three billion times its conception weight in
the salty environment of amniotic fluid. From the time of conception we are never without a need for salt. I am not talking about overly processed table salt which is actually a poison internallty but whole food salt. Our body craves whole, unprocessed salt that is rich in nutritious minerals
Our bodies contain three internal oceans that closely resemble the ionic balance of ocean water — the blood plasma, the lymphatic fluid, and the extra-cellular fluid. Each one of these complex solutions surrounds our cells and circulates through our bodies. Ocean salt contains all of the precious salts that our bodies require and it is because of these minerals that salt is a necessity.
Unfortunately, America has been saturated with the use of sodium chloride, also know as table salt. This harmful chemical is a concentrated, unbalanced source of sodium. Common table salt lacks many trace minerals. In order to make salt white, it is washed in an bleach-wash many times, and in this process the valuable trace minerals are lost. Now, the salt is no longer a whole food. Following this refining process, the minerals are removed and sold to the chemical industry, or to pharmaceutical companies to make dietary supplements.
Food becomes deficient and can even become toxic when ingredients are removed from it. Without the other minerals to balance it, salt becomes deadly when consumed excessively — as in the typical American diet. Salt is the most common preservative used today. Many foods are laced with this non-whole food salt — especially fast foods. French fries, milk shake beverages, sauce mixes, canned foods, and cured meats are major sources of salt.
Celtic Sea Salt, which comes from the coasts of France, is one of the few salts I have found that contributes to a healthy body. Unlike other “sea salts,” Celtic Sea Salt has all of the necessary minerals and nutrients intact, even providing magnesium, potassium and calcium. Nothing has been extracted, so therefore it is a whole food. As a complete food, the body can easily absorb the nutrients from the salt and evenly distribute them throughout the body, without creating dehydration. Celtic salt is one of the only salts I recommend to use daily.

Where do I purchase the Celtic Sea Salt?
Hi Joann,
What an inspirational email! You are right on track and the best gift a mother/wife could give to her family is health & nutrition. It saddens me daily when I watch families dining at fast food eating deadly foods. If only everyone could realize, as you have, the importance of health and how these poisonous foods are killing their bodies. Health is a gift if we are willing to accept it and take responsibility of our lives. Pizza and McDonalds can’t even compare to how I feel when I am healthy and energetic. I see it as preventative eating. I eat healthy now in order to prevent the numerous diseases that so many people are living with at even younger ages.
My husband & I always say that you can’t put a price on your health. Even if you are spending a bit more money on natural groceries, think of what you are saving in future medical bills! We are actually pregnant with our first child (I am 4 months pregnant) and more than ever, I am 100% dedicated to create the healthiest baby and environment possible! The younger our children can learn a healthy lifestyle, the easier it will be for them in the future.
Celtic Salt can generally be found at various health food stores, such as Lassen’s, Whole Foods, and various small stores. I would call around to any health stores near you to see if they carry it. If for any reason you can’t find it, you can always order it directly from their website: http://www.celticseasalt.com/.
Good luck with your new lifestyle transition…feel free to email me if you have any further questions in the future.
Take care,
