Six Daily Steps to Prevent Proliferation of H1N1
During the rise of H1N1 it has been highly recommended to boost the immune system, watch your diet and stress levels and much more.
I want to share a list with you that takes prevention to the next level. While it is almost impossible to prevent contact with H1N1 you can try and prevent or minimize the growth or “aggravation of symptoms and development of secondary infections” internally.
Dr. Vinay Goyal MBBS, DRM, DNB has worked all over the world in hospitals and now works as the head of the Nuclear Medicine Department. His focus is on trying to prevent the proliferation of the H1N1 virus which makes so much sense because it is almost impossible to prevent germs from entering the mouth and nose. Those germs and viruses can either lay dormant for awhile or multiply and strengthen. It is similar to cancer cells – we all have cancer cells roaming around in our body and under the right unhealthy circumstances such as acidity, illness, stress, etc., the cancer cells grow and flourish.
Since the mouth and nose are the main entrance into our body, it is important to practice daily steps of keeping these openings clean and strong. What struck me is that you can be healthy and feel fine without realizing that various germs/viruses, such as H1N1, can be present in the body via the nose and mouth without realizing. It is all about prevention rather than acting when you feel sick. According to Dr. Goyal, ” H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms”.
Dr. Goyal has some simple recommendations which I think would be smart to follow…
- Frequent hand-washing
- Keep your hands off your face
- Gargle twice/day with warm salt water (I recommend sea salt and also use a natural mouth wash often). This is very important to do regularly to prevent growth.
- Clean your nostrils once a day with warm salt water (Neti Pots work great). If you don’t have one yet try squirting with a saline solution or even blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing the nostrils with q-tips dipped in saline water.
- Boost immune system regularly – (My personal recommendation is with antioxidant rich berries, green superfood drinks, elderberry, oil of oregano, astragulus, alkaline water and alkaline foods)
- Drink as much of warm liquids (hot water and lemon, tea, etc.) as you can. “Drinking warm liquids has the same effecct as gargling, but in the reverse directions. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do harm”.
*My only addition is to alkalize, alkalize, alkalize! Eat alkaline foods, drink alkaline water, destress, minimize acidic pollutants and cleaning supplies and exercise.
