Who Doesn’t Love Popcorn?
Most people I talk to are afraid to snack on popcorn because it is too starchy and greasy. The difference is already popped bagged,
microwaved, and movie popcorn versus home made air popped. Most people and companies don’t seem to realize that it can be popped without oil or butter and still have amazing flavor. The key is the seasonings!
Popcorn popped in oil or butter is much more acidic and harsh on the digestive tract. Air popped popcorn is a great source of fiber and easily digested, especially when you pour raw cold-pressed oil over it. Raw oils actually aid in digestion, helping to push everything through
The key is to use cold-pressed olive oil, coconut oil or macadamia nut oil. My son’s favorite toppings include oil, Celtic Sea Salt and nutritional yeast flakes.
Celtic Sea Salt is a whole food rich in over 70 minerals!
Nutritional yeast is a great source of B vitamins and protein and adds a yummy cheesy flavor. Other great seasonings include garlic and onion powder & cumin and chili powder. Health Best is a tasty brand!
Directions:
- With an Air popper (you can buy one for under $20 at places like Target) pop a batch of pop corn kernels
- Lightly drizzle the oil over the popped popcorn
- Salt to taste
- Crush nutritional yeast flakes between your fingers and sprinkle over the popcorn
- Toss and eat up!
