Simplify Your Diet
I believe simplification is a lacking element in every person’s life.
Most things in life seem to be on the same crazy highway of multi-tasking, fast-paced living, and food on the run. I always tell my clients that the only way to truly reach their health goals is to simplify. This could mean simplifying their meals, lifestyle, or both. Whether you have digestive, stress, hormone, or weight issues, they won’t change without simplification.
Our bodies were not meant to eat 5-10 different foods all at once. The average American meal consists of 3 or more different food groups, which is overwhelming to the body. Our digestive system likes maybe 2-3 individual foods at a time. Easily digested meal examples include brown rice and broccoli, salmon and 2 steamed vegetables, fruit and almonds, veggie salad with feta, crackers and humus, or a smoothie. When we load our body up with chicken, baked potato and butter, cooked vegetables with cheese and a roll all at one sitting, our digestive tract freaks out. It can’t deal with that much all at once. Food overload causes stress and acid throughout the body, which unfortunately causes fat production and storage. The only way to get rid of those stubborn pounds that refuse to leave your abdomen, is to simplify your diet, causing less stress on your body.
What I am talking about is not chemistry, it is very simple. This is a scientific proven fact. Americans work way too hard, lead very stressful lifestyles, and their diet and health suffers. I challenge you to take 10 minutes out of your day and slow down. Try meditation, deep breathing, a short walk, or some quiet reading time. Find something that can change up the pace of your day. If you can decrease stress, you will be able to make more simple and healthier food choices. Choice is the key. You can choose to simplify and de-stress your entire lifestyle.
